Herald Sun - Nixon cool on new guns

Ms Nixon defended the force’s failure to arm officers with semi-automatic guns, saying she had seen police in other states shot with their own weapons.

As if it’s defendable to arm police officers with inferior equipment.

Her warning came as the police union said it will seek legal advice about whether force command has been negligent by failing to issue the upgraded weapons.

It has.

But Ms Nixon told a Public Accounts and Estimates Committee (PAEC) hearing the weapons were not foolproof and further investigation was needed.

No weapon is fooolproof. There is always something dangerous about weapons. That’s why they are called weapons.

The current issue revolvers were very stable, very successful and had served police in Victoria and other jurisdictions well, she said.

But it only has a 6 shot cylinder. And it has an excellent history of service. But then so did the Brown Bess musket. Why aren’t the ADF using it then?

“It’s also often described as police proof, that means that when you fire it at someone it works and that’s not been the history of semi-automatics.

Bullshit. The M1911A1 has provided nearly 100 years of service with the US armed forces, and it STILL the choice of discerning pistolero.

“In fact, when I’ve watched semi-automatics introduced in NSW I also watched a number of police officers shot during the training program. They can fire on occasions when you drop them.”

Lies. The Glock 22 has 3 independent safety that makes the probility of an accidental discharge almost irrelevant.

“What I’ve now asked my finance and business management people to do is to look at the implications of that recommendation and determine a way forward, what kind of costs would be involved, what kind of fire-arm, if we did move to a semi-automatic, was the most suitable.

“(I) don’t want to go forward without giving due diligence to thinking through the issues and also the implications for the state in terms of changing to a different fire-arm.”

Like a good bearaucrat she pretends she’s doing something but she’s really doing nothing a tall. Here’s news for you. Since the 1970s all the thinking, all the implications and all the costs have been known with regards to a police force deploying with semi-automatic pistols.

There has been some catty calls to remove Commissioner Nixon. Does the Sultan of Brumbistan need another reason to get rid of her?

The Leftist’s theory

Posted by Langy on Sat, 10 May 2008 17:52:22 +1000

Now, I am not normally one for rants like this but I believe i have found out why the leftist is so irrational.

So I may as well start from the beginning, Kevin Rudd’s alcohol tax has increased premixed drinks by a substantial amount for example four packs premixed Jack Daniels and Cola has gone up from $15 to $20, which took me as quite a surprise last night as i walked through the Bottle Shop on the way to a mates for drinks.

Then today i was discussing it with a female friend and she has began arguing with me about how this will be effective and the Government should provide a “Nanny” type protection for its citizens not just take its tax money and provide essential services.

Then as the discussion ended she said something that made perfect sense to me and it clicked that this is why Leftists are so quick to let the government take control of there responsibilities.

I don’t care about the rest of the world as long as I have a happy life

It makes so much sense, they don’t want to take control of their own life they just want to coast through it blissfully and face no hardships or challenges. They just want to have a happy life without any of these.

Now I don’t object to the idea but it is not the way of life to let you go through it without any challenges, life is what you make of it..
It should not be life is what the government kindly allows you to do.

Because we have seen around the world once we allow governments to think for us it is a very hard thing to get back the ability to make decisions for ourselves.

Feel free to comment on this, I am interested to hear your thoughts on this.

News.com.au - School teacher sacked for posing nude

A SYDNEY primary school teacher has been sacked for appearing in a sealed nude photo shoot in Cleo magazine with her husband.

Can’t say I oppose the NSW Education Department’s decision. Personally I find it horribly distasteful of people taking their sex lives in public. But it’s a magazine you say. People don’t have to read it.

That makes it all the more worse, because it’s public. I personally have no interest what goes on behind closed doors, but I have an interest what goes on with the compression waves that reach my ear. Talking about it cheapens it. It’s a bloody epidemic in modern life.

Grow up.

News.com.au - US approves Australian arms sale

THE US Defence Department said overnight it approved the possible sale to Australia of AEGIS weapons systems valued at up to $450 million.

Great news for our defence forces. The AEGIS is probably the most sophisticated tracking and targeting radar system in the world.

And now they get a slice of the pie.

I love apple pie.

Homo sapiens male wins right to take wife’s name

News.com.au - Man wins right to take wife’s name

ALL Michael Buday wanted to do was take the last name of his wife, Diana Bijon, when they married in the US.

In exchange for his balls. You’re a disgrace you castrated sack of puerile filth.

But it took two years, a lawsuit alleging sex discrimination and a change in California law before he picked up his new drivers licence in the name of Michael Bijon overnight.

What a surprise. A social deconstructionist ruling from the Democratic People’s Republic of Kalifornistan.

Run, Dirk. Before it’s too late.

“It was personal. I feel much closer to (Diana’s) father than I do mine. She asked me to take her name and I thought it would be very simple. I never imagined the state would make it so difficult,” Mr Bijon, 31, said.

Oh you mean you can now hop on her lap and sleep there? Wow, lucky man.

After months of frustration, the Los Angeles computer programmer and his ER nurse wife Diana, 29, took their problem to the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California.

Maybe you should have put the keyboard down and perfected your game, eh?

A double-barreled name would have been no problem, nor would Diana and Michael deciding to each keep their birth names. But California and some 40 other US states provided no place on the marriage licence application, and driving licence, for the groom to choose the bride’s surname.

For a good bloody reason it’s like that. What reason? If you have to ask then you’ll never know.

“Women have fought for so long for equal rights and it feels like this is part of that fight,” said Diana Bijon.

That’s right. The good old battle of the sexes. Men are just domesticated dogs who should make you feel like Rupunzel right? If he doesn’t cater to your every whim then he’s not worth it, right?

“When we got married, the law basically said, ‘Don’t be silly, only a woman can change her name when she gets married.’”

NO! It says ‘Don’t be silly, only a woman should change her name when she gets married.’

“I am really, really proud of him. Not many men would do this,” she said.

You’re only partialy correct. NO MAN WOULD DO THIS.

And the ramparts of Western Civilisation continue to be dismantled. It’s just happening slowly.

Small Arms Survey 2007

Is that a small arm in your pocket?

Apr 30th 2008
From Economist.com

AN ESTIMATED 875m small arms are in circulation worldwide: one for every seven people on the planet. Nearly three-quarters of these are owned by civilians. And about 80% of those guns in civilian hands are found in just 30 countries, according to the Small Arms Survey, a research group. Although America accounts for 40% of firearms in civilian ownership, people put them to more deadly use elsewhere. The gun murder rate in Colombia and South Africa, for example, is much higher than in America.

You all read that Ladies and Gentlemen?

The gun murder rate in Colombia and South Africa, for example, is much higher than in America.

See that Ladies and Gentlemen, just because the Americans have a larger amount of firearms does not mean they have the higher murder rate, now is there any conclusions we can draw from this?

Common Sense Weapon Laws

Posted by Elijah on Fri, 02 May 2008 18:54:36 +1000

It’s no secret that I have a pro-liberty and pro-gun rights agenda. A number of times I’ve railed against moronic laws that do nothing but further the statist agenda and do not one iota increase public saftey. They in fact to the exact opposite. So I propose the following proven and workable laws that will keep the public safe and will not impinge on the liberties of men.

These are:

  • No regulation of any hand weapons such axes, swords, polearms and the like. I don’t care how scary a Bardiche is to you. Grow up.
  • The above includes mechanical devices such as automatically opening knives or daggers.
  • Negative enforcement of firearm purchases.
    • Morally, this means that weapons should be prohibited to those who are criminals.
    • Practically this means, that in order to a firearm a background check is conducted using a database of criminal records. If anything is found purchase is denied. However, the purchaser may dispute with the independent body that will run this database.
    • If nothing comes back after 10 minutes of search purchase is automatically approved. People should not be delayed by bureaucratic inefficiency.
    • No licensing for any small arms. This includes assault rifles, machine-guns, and AMRs.
    • Destructive Weapons; banned or regulated using common sense.
      • Eg. Cannons; Howitzers; Mortars
      • CBRN devices
    • No permits required for any ammunition.
    • No limits on the amount of firearms owned.
    • No limits on the amount of arms to be purchased at any one time.
    • No waiting or cooling off periods of any kind.

You’re welcome to disagree. Just make sure it’s backed up by logic and fact.
